Description
yann tiersen is no longer the same lord of the amélie
poulain. and good, why, in 2011, do we see a safe musician in his good post-rock devane?
Indeed, to the seventh disk, it is as if tiersen had discovered his own essence, hearing
very great sigur ròs and godspeed you! black imperaror, who also attend this temple of
xylophones and the long-track growths, as monumentals depicts. However, despite cohesive, skyline is a varied disc in terms of influences, oo result and abuse of acoustic and electric guitars, which
bring us to memory country and folk landscapes. if we join the futuristic and back-vocal synthesizers
in the form of interlude, we can, in full consciousness, affirm that this is your most post-rock disk to the
date.
a year ago yann tiersen, released dust lane, an album covered by the shadow of death and having it
as a central theme. now the French returns, less gloomy? but not exactly illuminated? with a
new work, skyline.
the disk keeps in itself several elements that in other circumstances would be contrasting, but here
are sewn by tiersen until they form a large collection of musical flaps. the dichotomy between light and
Shadow of the arrangements is based on post-rock, psychedelic fragments, space rock, dream pop/shoegaze,
delicate and at the same time grandiose experiments (which remember the sigur rós) and all this if
fits, almost mysteriously.
between cascades of synthesizers and guitar walls yann tiersen seems to have found a place
comfortable to explore the various musical paths that seem to arise in front of each new album.
