further is the seventh career disk of the chemical brothers.

this is a very special edition, since it is the first time that the chemical brothers will follow the 8 tracks with movies made especially for each of them. this film will be included in a special edition in dvd and in the lp edition available in itunes.

almost three years after we are the night ? grammy winner and the fifth consecutive album to reach #1 in the United Kingdom tables ?, further is a record in which tom rowlans and ed simons explore the barriers the limits of their sound. after a trip for four decades of electronic music tom & ed took the model of their occasional editions with electronic battle weapon and gloriously turned it into an album. samples and voice fragments are woven between the tracks, creating an album that flows as one of the group's legendary dj sets. in further, the power of the west coast pop is side-by-side with the strong Germanic rhythms, while manipulations of my bloody valentine's sound skeleton hover over the first bass strings in the house.

this is also the first true collaboration with the long-standing visual partners: adam smith? aka flat nose george ? and marcus lyall. adam smith has been responsible for all visual creations of the chemical brothers concerts since they debuted live in 1994. the visual effects of further were created to match each of the eight tracks on the disk and were planned throughout the recording of the disk.

further is the culmination of nearly two decades of psychedelic sounds exploration; further is an enveloping collection that gives us the chemical brothers in their less contained and more melodic state ever.

Artist

Tom & Ed met in history class at Manchester University in 1989. They started off as DJs known as "The 237 Turbo Nutters" (named after the number of their house on Dickenson Road in Manchester and a reference to their Blackburn raving days). They then opted for "The Dust Brothers" which they nicked from the L.A. producers of "Pauls Boutique" (as they thought they would never be famous). In 1995 they changed their name to "The Chemical Brothers" after the real Dust Brothers threatened to sue.
