A banda americana de rock formada em 1973 por Todd Rundgren.
Durante seus primeiros três anos, o grupo foi uma banda de rock progressivo com uma associação um pouco fluida conhecida como Utopia de Todd Rundgren. A maioria dos membros desta primeira encarnação também tocou nos álbuns solo de Rundgren do período até 1975. Em 1976, o grupo era conhecido simplesmente como Utopia e era um quarteto estável de Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell e John Willie Wilcox. Esta versão do grupo gradualmente abandonou o prog-rock para rock direto e pop.

Em 1980, eles tiveram um top 40 hit com "Set Me Free". Embora muitas vezes pensado como um projeto orientado para Rundgren, todos os quatro membros da Utopia escreveram, cantaram, produziram e tocaram em seus álbuns; "Set Me Free", por exemplo, foi cantado por Sulton.
