where the world lives is a record of songs resulting from the musical partnership between afonso parents and jp Simões. jp Simões, musician-composer and writer, with a journey closely linked to the universe of songs in its most varied aesthetic strands, sign all the lyrics on this album. afonso pais, multi-instrumentist and composer with musical formation in the area of jazz, lived and worked in the eua, collaborated with several mpb singers, and in this project composed the music, assuming the arrangements and musical direction.
The album condenses in its songs the school of the Brazilian song, the jazz sophistication of the American singer and the space of the improviso: it is spoken, u better, about the impossibility of love, about the nuances of the joy that comes from melancholy, humiliation and self-flagelo, about the illusion of disposable spiritual rebirth and about Portuguese zombies and politicians. is played by musicians of excellence: carlos barretto, alexandre frazão, tomás pimentel, jorge kings, guto lucena and luís wedge. the special participation of perico sambeat, one of the best European improvistors in the high saxophone.
