The South English band was founded in the middle of the 1980s by Davey Dodds and Robin Harrison. Joined by Tony Heath and Mark Ollard. This was the lineup for the first album in 1987, while Red Jasper always was a live-band.
The next one to join was Pat D'Arcy, who formerly played his sax with Ophiuchus. Due to tensions within the band, Mark Ollard left and was replaced by David Clifford on the drums. This lineup recorded "Sting In The Tale"
Pat D'Arcy and Tony Heath left the band there after. Jonathan Thornton and Lloyd George joined the band, that run with this lineup till 1997, before broke up.
There was a reunion around 2010.
