Disbanded in 1977, and re-united in 1985.

"The Kursaal" was a renowned ballroom on the seafront at Southend-on-Sea in Essex. Each year The Kursaal would be represented in the town carnival by a large novelty train, known as "The Kursaal Flyer". It is this that inspired the name for the group.
