Daughter of Reverend C.L. Franklin and sister of Carolyn Franklin, Erma Franklin, Vaughn Franklin, and Reverend Cecil Franklin, who served as her business manager until his death in 1990. She had four sons: Clarence Franklin from Donald Burk, Edward Franklin from Edward Jordan, Teddy F. White also known as Teddy Richards when she was married to Ted White, and the Christian rap artist Kecalf Franklin Cunningham from Ken Cunningham. Her last husband was Glynn Turman.
