the core of the kasai allstars consists of fifteen musicians of five bands, all of the region of kasai of the congo, but coming from five different ethnicities. each has their own culture, language and musical traditions, which have always been considered incompatible until these musicians decided to transcend their differences and work together. kasai allstars take away their festive and ritual music songs and the lyrics address issues such as sorcery, social commentary and traditional wisdom.
"beware the Fetish" features a wider range of kasai allstars music, a result of a deeper examination of the musicians' repertories and styles, with the help of a wide variety of people. the band oa their trademark mix of traditional instruments (crack and tinnitus pipes, xylophones,) guitars, distorted pianos with diy amplification. some songs show a more rock swing, intertwining guitars, others include a higher proportion of acoustic percussion, all of which are accompanied by the vocal performances of a cast of charismatic singers
