andré rieu was born in 1949 and, right from the age of 5, andré begins to take violin lessons. in his family, music was constantly present and classical music was the one that predominated in that home.
Rieu founded his first orchestra in 1978, maastricht salon orchestra, and nine years later, he began the formation of his following (and still current) orchestra, johann strauss orchestra.
only in the year 1994, andré rieu launches his first album in holanda, strauss & co., which was a success remaining a year in the top ten. the second waltz theme becomes a super hit. a year later, this work is also edited in the Germany where it also reached the top ten for several months.
in 1996, andré rieu receives the world music award award in monte carlo.
throughout his record career, his various records always achieve a huge success and the flying dutchman will not be exception!
