in 1998 the 13th eric clapton record was injuriously put aside by the criticism that expected at the end of nine years a record at the height of the last of originals, the excellent journeyman.

However pilgrim has songs and bright moments that do not disappoint the biggest ec fans.
"my father's eyes", "river of looms" and circus are among the best compositions of the author. and what about the beautiful version of "born in time" of bob dylan ?

Perhaps the biggest mistake of the album is the somewhat exaggerated production of simon climie, trying to please everyone with immense arrangements of synthesizers, drumbeats and other studio effects that does not always favor the author.
Taking these details, it was not yet this that eric clapton disappointed. was just a preview of a new era for one of the greatest guitarists ever.
