A Meia-noite A formação de óleo permaneceu bastante estável sobre a longa carreira da banda: Peter Garrett como vocalista (e, no início, sintetizador,) Jim (James) Moginie na guitarra e teclados, Martin Rotsey na guitarra, e Rob (Robert) Hirst na bateria. Andrew Bear James, o primeiro baixista, saiu em 1979, substituído por Peter Gifford, que deixou em 1989 para ser substituído pelo ex-The Swingers, da Nova Zelândia, que permaneceu com o grupo até sua dissolução em 2002. Gary Morris (2) foi o gerente da banda e o sexto membro efetivo (muitas vezes creditado com o título simples Business on albums) em todo o mundo. Hillman sucumbiu ao câncer em novembro de 2020.
